CITY BASE: Rome I am a biologist, and I have just completed a PhD in Biodiversity and Ecosystem Analysis, studying the effect of land use alteration on vertebrate communities of fragmented woodland. In the past few years I have been involved in several projects involving monitoring of wildlife populations and management plan development for local protected areas. I am essentially interested in conservation biology and how it could be feasibly integrated in the management actions that affect ecosystems and species. AREA OF SPECIALISM: Community ecology, landscape ecology and conservation biology. SPECIFIC RESEARCH SKILLS: GIS v9.3, Fragstats 3.3, EcoSim 7.7, SPSS v.14, R’ SPECIFIC MAYA SKILLS: Undertaking qualitative/quantitative research, working with communities to help establish local conservation, presentations on conservation and sustainability for schools, creating connections between local groups, knowledge exchange activities and dissemination of academic research, translations.
