CITY BASE: Aberdeen OTHER: Venezuela At the moment, I am a PhD student at the University of Aberdeen. I have three main interests: Conservation biology and Ecology, Forest Restoration and Permaculture. My current research is focused on the role of the landscape and Avifauna on the natural regeneration of native forest in degraded grasslands in Sri Lanka. I have also worked in the past in conservation biology, looking at the population ecology of an endangered turtle species in Venezuela. I am particularly interested in the relationships between human, animals and plants. Additionally, I have a keen interest in Permaculture. In the future I aim to conduct research on the benefits of the agricultural methods used in Permaculture. AREA OF SPECIALISM: Ecology, forest restoration, conservation biology, permaculture SPECIFIC RESEARCH SKILLS: Oriana v.1.4, SPSS v.14, basic R’ SPECIFIC MAYA SKILLS: Running projects; developing, implementing and evaluating programs; translations from spanish to english; undertaking quantitative research; presentations on conservation biology, forest restoration and permaculture for schools, community groups, government and business; owning and managing Maya Project land in urban and peri-urban areas for community access and sustainability initiatives.
