Nina Baumgartner MPhil
Project Maya Co-Founder & Director, Rome
Nina is currently employed by an international organic control body based in Italy (www.icea.info) and works on the promotion and certification of organic aquaculture and sustainable fisheries. She graduated in Biological Sciences in 2005 at the University of Rome 'La Sapienza', and she obtained a Master of Philosophy in Zoology at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. Whilst researching for the Universities she started collaborating with several environmental non-profit organizations and therefore realised that her passion is to work with local communities and to build bridges between communities, rather than sitting in front of a computer all day.
That's when she decided to gain a second Master degree (you never stop learning!). This time she went to Milan to study how to manage social companies, cooperatives and NGOs.
Networking is Nina's favourite word; while Nina's dream is to work with her biodiverse group of friends, who share with her same objectives and passions in life.
