Ruth is an Environmental Scientist interested in sustainability and conservation. However, in later years her research and professional life has been focused in Marine Biology, specifically in cetacean (dolphin) biology. Ruth completed a European PhD in ecology in 2010 (University of Vigo, Spain) addressing general aspects of the ecology of the bottlenose dolphin, Tursiops truncatus, in Galicia, NW Spain. She is currently an honorary member of staff at Aberdeen University (UK) and works as freelance environmental consultant within Europe (e.g. UK, Spain, Portugal) in projects related to the management and distribution of cetaceans and other wildlife populations (e.g. birds, invertebrates). Ruth has been actively involved with Spanish conservation NGOs since 2001 (i.e. www.cemma.org) and she has a deep interest in environmental education and local community projects.
